After making do with a Harbor Freight 6in metal chop saw and lots of arrow squaring sand paper (it wasn't great but it got the job done), I finally broke down and bought a proper arrow saw. I hadn't before because none of the other saws on the market seemed worth the price. Big, bulky, noisy motors using what appeared to be your typical metal cutoff wheels. I saw Podium Archery's review and was impressed with how quiet and streamlined the saw was. Seems like simeone finally wised up and used a dremel type/sized modern motor rather the big metal cutoff/bench grinder motors that others seem to use. Little over 200 bucks for the deluxe model that had an extra blade and the nock holder rear rest seemed worth it. When it arrived I immediately put it to use on a few dozen shafts that I had been putting off building out because my old setup was pretty tedious amd noisy (Harbor Freight quality saw and all). The modsaw made short work of cutting the ends of the shafts (I always cut .5-1 inch off the nock end to correct any warping that occurs as the shafts are stored and shipped) and then cutting them to length. As a traditional archer who also shoots compound, I like to play with different arrow recipes as my primary tuning method (set up the bow, get the arrow right, then mess with the bow adjustments if possible). So far this saw has reduced the time and hassle of my arrow building. Glad I picked it up. The one problem is cutting shafts was so quick and easy, I ended up setting myself up for quite the fletching session.
On another note, the people of this company are stand up folks as well. Got myself in a jam after dropping some heavy stuff on my saw while rearranging my shop workspace. Of course I broke the rear arrow holder with the nock reciever. But after muttering a few choice words and contacting these fine folks and explaining the part I need, they got me taken care of quickly and my saw will be back up and running shortly. Excellent product and excellent people.
